Preface
Science and religion are not necessarily at odds.
Science explains the power and structure of the universe, while religion worships its author.
Many scientist exploring the foundations of the cosmos,
after exhausting their equations and models, find no
conflict agreeing with;
It is all magic,
It is all miracle.
Every sunrise
Every sunset
Each grain of sand
and
Each blade of grass,
A gift.
From God’s breath
I am.
Few thoughts are more cogent than Bob Dylan’s observation that “he not busy being born is busy dying.”* We must always be receptive to being awed, amazed, perplexed, amused, and instructed.
Abhor cynicism and jadedness. They are just lazy ways of viewing the world that excuse us from using our brains.
And finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honest, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think on these things.**
